Corporate Compliance Sustainability Programs

December 16, 2024

The Department of Justice (DOJ) recently updated its “” (ECCP) guidance. This document is designed to assist U.S. prosecutors in determining the effectiveness of an organization’s compliance program in the event of a DOJ investigation. Ethics and compliance professionals diligently await and review these updates—and not just U.S.-based practitioners. Today’s complex business environment includes significant Multi-National Enterprises, thus even global practitioners make it a priority to remain up to speed on the latest DOJ updates.?

The ECCP guidance continues to emphasize DOJ’s expectations that companies perform adequate third party management. In the updated guidance, it specifically mentions “ongoing monitoring of the third party relationships, be it through updated due diligence, training, audits, and/or annual compliance certifications by the third party.”

When it comes to updated due diligence, Lockheed Martin has been participating this year as members of a work group sanctioned by the International Aerospace Environmental Group. Sustainability Senior Manager Ashley Rubinsky is the chair of IAEG’s Work Group 11, which has been focusing on solutions for supply chain sustainability. The workgroup engages with a third party vendor on a risk management approach to invite suppliers to participate in tailored, voluntary assessments of their organizations to assist the Aerospace and Defense Industry’s efforts to ensure a strong and robust supply chain. So far, more than 5,000 Aerospace & Defense suppliers have signed-up with the vendor and projections are excellent for the coming year.

Lockheed Martin does business based on its three fundamental values: Do What’s Right, Respect Others, and Perform with Excellence. We rely on our suppliers and partners who share our values and commitment to doing business with integrity. Relationships like those between Sustainability and Ethics, Lockheed Martin and IAEG work in concert toward that same goal. Steps in this new direction will lead to great strides in strengthening the supply chain.? ?
