Winged Warriors: Poland’s First F-35 Unveiled

Poland’s first F-35A “Husarz” aircraft was officially presented during a ceremony in Fort Worth, Texas.  

In addition to strengthening ties between the United States, Poland and NATO, the F-35 gives “new wings” to today’s Polish warriors and their storied past. 

Winged Horsemen

The unique name of Poland’s F-35As, “Husarz,” is derived from the legendary Polish “winged” Hussars cavalry units active from the 16th century until the early 18th century.

We collaborated with artist/photographer Andrzej Wiktor and attorney Gabriel Olearnik, both native Poles, to bring Poland’s past and present to life together, in living color. 

The iconic “wings” of a hussar warrior’s armor – traditionally assembled from raptor feathers – served to demoralize enemies in battle.

Like the namesake Polish warriors before, the F-35A “Husarz” is a striking symbol of strength, resolve and beauty. 
Some Polish Hussars used long lances to fend off attackers. Today, the F-35’s advanced sensor suite can identify and defeat threats from afar.

The Hussars’ renowned speed, precision and tactical innovations on horseback enabled them to defend their homeland.

Polish warriors will soon employ those same qualities with a faster animal: the world’s most advanced stealth fighter jet.
